Description:
Everything seems obvious when you know the answer… So, why is the Mona Lisa the most famous painting in the world?
In this case, you may need to tilt your head 90 degrees to the left to ‘see’ the implied Sun’s rays at the top turn to pyramids.
The interlocking blue ‘cylinders’ represents the ‘Blue Nile’ with a bright blue sky above the pale sands of the Sahara on the left and right sides.
The full moon depicted at the center of the image give some sense on the scale and enormity of the 4,000+ year old stone edifices.
Pyramids at Giza plateau, Cairo:
The GREAT pyramid = Khufu = Cheops
The CENTRE pyramid = Khafre = Chephren
The SMALLEST pyramid = Menkaura = Mycerinus
The first name [eg Khufu] is the Egyptian name for the pyramid, and the second name is the Greek name for the pyramid.
In late 1980's wile backpacking around Egypt…I took a dawn tour (horse ride)... to Mycerinus and was as lead by a ‘guide’ (a spritely 60+ yo local) to the top of the 'smallest' pyramid!... and on the same day explored the tunnels and chambers inside the Great pyramid.
I recall that the next morning, I thought I had been cursed by Pharaohs as my leg muscles were so sore I could hardly walk.
Looking back, it was well worth the effort and for anyone thinking of taking a trip to Egypt (not-with-standing any current political turmoil/unrest)... just go!
It’s a fascinating place to visit!!!
