The ‘Snake in the Grass’ is actually 2 x Snakes in the Grass… The first one and subject of the painting is obvious… take a closer look at the eyes (a reflected image of a couple embracing).
The second Snake is camouflaged in the grass… but having been pierced by a thorn… lays bleeding and helpless in the path of the predator ahead.
